REST IN PEACE GURU!

Its crazy I never really got in debth with some major original Hip-Hop because it wasn't in my time but as years progressed I lived to start honoring true pioneers in their craft and artist who really took time out to work hard on almost every or pretty much ever project they worked on. People like Tupac Shakur, Nas, Lauryn Hill, Mos Def, Common, Talib Kweli, J Dilla, Wu Tang just to name a few. Most Importantly "Gangstarr" reason I say most importantly because the words Guru would spit would be sooo uplifting you would get empowered automatically like he flipped the on switch in your beliefs. For example the song "Discipline" (catchy beat, great chorus, then he busts out "that's why I don't breath death in my songs, I breath LIFE"). Then you have "YOU KNOW MY STEEZ" (he says "Wackness is spreading like a plague, MC's lucked up and got payed but still can't make the fucking grade"). Its just rhymes like that that brings you back to reality. His passing today is a sad day for Hip-Hop, seeing as all people rap about the same stuff, Rappers using the same format, just to get by and get money, everyone doesn't have the mindset of Guru, the dedication that Guru had, the positive yet powerful rhymes he bestowed on our brains to think about and bring us back to reality when we frolick in our own fantasies! With pioneers dying what state is Hip-Hop/Rap in when all we hear are Raps that have little or no meaning in reality or real life events. Everything in 2010 represents fantasy and shit, we need more people like him to bring us back to LIFE!

Shake My Head, R.I.P. Guru. Forever will you live on in true Hip-Hop fans hearts and minds. I'm praying that some upcoming hungry artist can have the heart and dedication you had to really respect the gift of Hip-Hop instead of using it to get by in life!

TIL NEXT AMERICA!
